First sanctuary county in America reflects a new pro-life strategy

By Sarah Quale — On August 19, 2019, the Yadkin County Board of Commissioners in Yadkinville, North Carolina, passed a resolution to become the nation’s first sanctuary county to protect pre-born children from abortion. The resolution is the first step in a larger, three-pronged strategy put forth by the Personhood Alliance that is calling the pro-life movement back its roots and replicating the approach of early Christians in shifting the culture.

What marijuana and sanctuary cities can teach the pro-life movement

Originally published on LifeSiteNews, March 27, 2018, by Gualberto Garcia Jones, Esq. — On March 23rd, President Donald Trump signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018, also known as the omnibus budget deal.  The budget funded Planned Parenthood, with no conscience protections for pro-lifers.  It also funded “sanctuary cities” that openly defy federal immigration law and defunded the Justice Department’s ability to enforce federal marijuana laws.  What I find most interesting about this budget boondoggle is what it tells us in the pro-life movement about the real political power of defiance.

What is a state Personhood Amendment?

In January 2007, Georgia Right to Life contacted the Thomas More Law Center to request language so as to implement personhood—the pro-life strategy that united the movement directly after Roe was handed down. In March, Georgia House Rep. Martin Scott filed the nation’s first state-level Human Life Amendment. Later that summer, it would be renamed the Personhood Amendment.
